Finishing up in the States

Fixing to head to Georgia for CRC (CONUS Replacement Center).

Have to say I am not looking forward to this. My flight to Georgia is on Friday and guess what I get to do Thursday? That’s right, I get to have 2 wisdom teeth yanked and then the next day I get to fly to GA. I have to say I would rather eat one of my own toes. Anyway, the Doc says he is going to drug me so heavily that I won’t remember a thing. Jury is still out. Supposedly they are going to give me some “Happy Juice” whatever the heck that is and some other cocktail that contains Demerol and 2 other drugs. So I guess the best case scenario is that I wake up with 2 less teeth and 4 more addictions. Yeah!

So I am not looking forward to it. I finish the final segment of moving out of my condo tomorrow. My Mom is going to help me. Man it sucks not having a truck anymore. Anyway a buddy of mine is going to live here while I am away and he is going to get rid of the popcorn ceilings and put hardwoods on every other square inch of the house. I was never a fan of wood flooring, but now I actually like it, so I will do every square inch in wood. Carpet sucks; you just have more stuff to vacuum.

Anyway, it is getting closer to the day for me to leave and the biggest issue is packing. It is 1 thing to pack for a weeks trip to the beach, but an entirely different matter when you are packing for Afghanistan for at least 6 months. Yeah I know, waaa waaa. But it is still hard.

Well wish me luck Thursday; hopefully the dentist doesn’t end my life early for me.

Cheers,
Walt

Hardwood flooring

Today was pretty boring. All I really did was lay down some new hardwood floors in my condo. I am in a hurry and on a budget.

Rat dogs

Had a pretty boring weekend. Watched football all day Saturday and then watched UFC 78. What a snore that was. They let anyone into the UFC it seems. Speaking of UFC, I would argue that it has all but killed boxing. Who even watches boxing anymore? What a lame sport. I wish some of these so called boxers would get into the octagon with some real fighters.

Not much to speak of really this time. Getting my place ready to sell and trying to get packed before I have to head out. Here is a picture of my niece and my sister’s boyfriend’s 2 little girls with their rat dogs. Cute girls, ugly rat dogs. My niece is the one on the right with her white recently neutered rat dog.

Anyway, more to follow.

Walt

More guns

So my buddy saw my new gun and wanted one of his own. We went out and he bought a Glock 19. Sweet gun, but my Walther is way better. Way better.

Anyway, we are painting my kitchen and dining room tonight. Yay, fun. Hopefully tomorrow we will start working on the hardwoods.

Anyway, not too much was going on today. Just packing my stuff in preparation for Afghanistan. I have to plan ahead and mail stuff to my future address because I don’t want to have to lug that crap all the way across the planet. It is such a nightmare to travel long distances.

Anyway, a while back I told you guys about a statue I bought in Malaysia. Well I am finally able to post her picture. Here it is.

New gun

Well today I went out and exercised my 2nd Amendment right and purchased a new gun. I might try to bring it with me to Afghanistan, but I doubt I will be able to. So I may let my sister have it while I am gone. She has a 9 year old, so she needs a gun. You know how bad those 9 year olds can get.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get it. I went into my Sportsman’s Warehouse, which has a monster selection BTW. All the girl did was take my ID, go off somewhere for about 5 minutes, then she came back and I had to fill out a pretty simple form. When we had that done, she called it in to the FBI, which sort of pisses me off but that is another story. The funny thing was that this little girl had to carry the gun all over the store with me and couldn’t give it to me until we were outside the store. The way she carried it around reminded me of someone carrying a human organ or something. Like it is going to explode?

Anyway, I got a Walther P99. This is the same sidearm that I carried in Iraq so it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to have one in my hands again. I never owned a handgun before so I am surprised at how happy it makes me to have one. Shotguns and rifles are one thing, but this is different. Picture me locked and loaded going thru my condo and clearing it room by room. I did it and it was fun. I know that if something happens, like someone breaking into my condo, I can just blast them. I wish someone would break in.

I wasn’t going to buy one before I left but I fear that at the rate we are shredding the Constitution I may not have the ability to get one in a few years when I get back. I would urge you all to go out and buy at least 1 gun, or 2. I would recommend the Walther P99 highly to use as a concealed carry weapon. It is smooth to fire, holds 15 rounds and comes with 2 magazines.

If you are looking for a great home defense weapon, I would suggest the Desert Eagle 50 caliber. This is one massive handgun and can take someone’s head off with one shot. Very cool, just make sure there aren’t any good guys behind your target. This can also be equipped with a weapon light and a scope if you really want a monster. If I get another gun, the .50 will be it. You can pick one up for about 1200 dollars. The Walther was about 600.

Here are the rounds I purchased. Federal Premium HydraShoks.

Anyway, that is about it for today, it was great to catch up with a lot of you guys last night on PWZ and will try to get back on tonight.

Cheers,
Walt
